Mattel Recall Alert

Following a massive recall of toys last month, Mattel is now recalling more toys because they contain lead paint. The latest recall involves Barbie Accessory Sets, Geo Trax fire engines, and "It's a Big Big World" plastic toys. Pictures and other details about the specific toys involved in these Mattel recalls are available here.

Toll free numbers (in English and Spanish) have been established to answer questions regarding the Mattel Toy Recall. Números de teléfonos para llamadas gratis, (en inglés y español) han sido establecidos para contestar preguntas con respecto a las retiradas de juguetes de la marca Mattel.

Press Conference announcing State actions on recalled toys:

The Consumer Protection Board is asking toy-maker Mattel Inc. to make it easier for consumers to return unsafe toys.

  • The CPB thinks consumers should be given a better deal by letting them bring a recalled toy back to the store where it was purchased and to receive a full cash refund. If you want to add your voice, please send this letter to Mattel.
  • With your voice, we can try to prevent the distribution of dangerous toys and the upset that would be caused by another mass recall. Use this letter to urge the Toy Industry Association to take steps to improve the quality and safety of toys.

The CPB is working to help make it easier for consumers to identify if they do indeed have questionable products in their home. Please review our CPB Toy Inventory Checklist.
